Oh, the good things just keep on comin'! I was searching the Austin Pond Society's web pages for the time and place for their monthly meeting (Jan and I joined last month after taking the Pond Tour), and I ran across a link to The Transplantable Rose weblog by Annie in Austin, who has been taking photos and movies, and writing songs about many things for lots longer than I have had my weblog up.
This year Annie and Philo went on the tour, but the camera broke midway through, and so Annie wrote The Pond Song and made a YouTube video for her Pond Tour post this year. The idea is one I would not have thought of, and the song/photos/videos are so beautiful. There are some videos of Kathy and Rick's pond/stream in there, too. Watch for those.
I am so glad I found this weblog, and will definitely check back often to see what's going on with Annie! I hope that you'll check back often too. There is a lot to see.
Thanks again Annie,
Mike Z
Mike, I just came back to tell you I put your blog in my links and was thrilled to see this post - thank you so much for liking the song and linking to it.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that you and Jan and Philo and I were all wandering around at Kathy & Rick's pond at the same time that day - it was a magical place.
Annie
Hey Mike, Haven't had a chance to look at the video yet but I will. Thanks for finding it. :)
ReplyDeleteCheers
Heather
P.S. Hot here today. Yikes a high of 33C with a humidex of 40C.
Forgot to tell you that we watched the movie, "Once" last week. Wow, what a beautiful film. I loved the Cinematography and the fact that he used the two musicians as the actors in the film too. So glad I bought it to have on hand. Thanks again, Heather
ReplyDeleteAnnie - thanks for putting my 'blog in your links! that was nice, and I hope you get lots of visitors to Transplantable Rose from my post with the song; I did like it and liked the videos and photos, too. I agree we were probably there at the same time (we were there around 4pm Sunday), and magical it was! Are you going to the pond society mtg tonight? I am going to try to be there....
ReplyDeleteHeather - glad you're back! It's been too long! I know you will love the video and the song, too. So you see why "Once" is my favorite movie? I like the "documentary" feel it has and the genuine emotions and conversations. It just seemed too real to be a movie. And I could listen to Glen Hansard all day every day! The songs are just greatness, that's all I can say.
Eerily enough, we in Austin are having some cool days finally for a change (read that less than 95 deg F), due to some cold fronts passing by. No rain for me however...
Well, I have gone and made a blog entry from a reply! Thanks to you both for caring enough to comment. It means a lot.

Water...what is it about water the draws us to it? When I first moved to the west from the east, I missed the water terribly. I was used to having a body of water nearby all my life. Whether it be a river, stream, lake or the ocean...beautiful song and video Annie. I especially like how you incoporate the pictures into your lyrics. The Dragon Fly is amazing! So is the Blue Lily. Love it all! Thanks for finding that Mike and posting it.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I posted a comment to your comment on my Guitar post about the movie "Once". Such a beautiful movie. Thanks again. And Enjoy the cooler weather while you can. ;) Heather
Duh. Never mind that last comment about the movie "Once" on my blog. It was actually on yours. LOL Heather Guess I've been in the sun too long.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so hard on yourself Heather. It happens to us all. I have done about the same thing a couple of times myself.
ReplyDeleteReally glad you liked the movie. And congratulations again on the new ax.
Went to the Pond Society mtg last night and won a door prize. A plastic water lily! I had brought an enlarged photo (the one of the Lady in the Water from Kathy and Rick's pond) and gave it as a door prize--and the Pond Society photographer picked it! I was very pleased.
I hope Annie comes back and sees your nice comments on her song.
Congrats on your door prize. How cool. Yup new Ax is awesome, that's for sure. :) I want to hear about you playing your Takamine though? Nothing like the sound of water and music to soothe your soul.....Heather
ReplyDeleteHi Mike( & Heather),
ReplyDeleteThank you both for enjoying the music video - I just saw Heather's garden and now realize you are musicians.
Mike I sure hope you got some rain?
All the Austin Garden Bloggers were posting about big rains Sat-Monday night, and I was feeling glum here in NW Austin. Yesterday afternoon we got our turn...a little less than 2" according to our rain gauge.
Maybe you were lucky too?
Annie
Hope you all get some much needed moisture soon. :)
ReplyDeleteAnnie in Austin,
ReplyDeletethank you so much for identifying the flowers in my slide show for me. I have added their names to the slide show.
You're the best!
